Rita Beal- Flames Middle School

Coach Rita’s playing and coaching career in women’s lacrosse began 30 years ago in Syracuse, NY.  After years as a defender, she committed to goal keeper senior year, earning First Team All-League and MVP honors.  Rita continued to play in college at Division I American University in Washington, DC, starting every game for two years.  She transferred to the University of North Carolina in their inaugural season and Lettered that year, graduating in 1997.
Following college, Rita enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC.  She went on to serve in federal positions until she decided to focus on her family and reengage with lacrosse as a coach. Her love of the sport and passion for mentoring young women athletes has since spanned three states and positively influenced more than seven lacrosse programs.
As a Junior Varsity Head Coach in Seattle, Rita’s teams went undefeated her first two years, developing so many players that a second Varsity team was required.  She then transferred to a struggling high school program and achieved a winning Junior Varsity season with mostly first-time players. Simultaneously, she conducted coaching clinics in the region and volunteered as a Youth Club Coach to help improve feeder programs.
Rita continued coaching in Chicago as a Varsity Defense Coach, Varsity Goal Keeper Coach and Youth Club Coach.  Her next-level defensive strategy and ability to train young athletes were instrumental in the high school program improving from 6-10 to 11-5, and her goalie rising to 3rd in the state.
A final move has brought Rita back “home” to Fayetteville and she is excited to join the Flames program at the middle school level and train goal keepers of all ages.
